Brow Lift

As we age, the skin starts to droop as it looses its elasticity. This will result in wrinkles along the forehead, eyes, and drooping of the eyebrows.
A brow lift, or forehead lift, aims to restore the position of the eyes and brows, creating a youthful contour. Sagging eyes and brows can cause a tired and sad appearance. This will result in the development of frown lines and deep skin creases in the forehead as the muscle compensate for a lower brow.
The goals of a brow lift are to elevate the brow, reduce excess upper eyelid skin, and eliminate forehead wrinkles and frown lines. Brow lift or forehead lift is often combined with other procedures such as facelift and upper eyelid surgery.
There are a number of procedures that Dr. Abi Akl can perform to correct this, such as:

Temporal Brow Lift
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Coronal Brow Lift
Hairline Brow Lift

Temporal Brow Lift

The goal of this procedure is to lift the lateral aspect of the brow/ forehead. The incisions are hidden behind the hairline.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

Through very minimal incisions hidden behind the hairline and using a tiny endoscope, Dr. Abi Akl is able to lift your brows and forehead and fix them in their new position.

Coronal Brow Lift

This is probably the most long lasting procedure. It involves a transverse incision from ear to ear, hidden behind the hairline. Then the skin and subcutaneous tissues are dissected off the underlying bone. After removing the excess skin and tissue, the incision is closed.

Hairline Brow Lift

The incision is made along the hairline, the brows are lifted and the excess of skin is removed from the non hair bearing area. The incision is then closed and the scar is hidden in the hairline. This is not ideal for men at risk for male pattern baldness.

There is no one size fits all procedure. This is why surgery should be tailored to every individual to achieve a natural and softer look and most importantly the desired goal.

Am I a good candidate for a Browlift?

The following criterias are the most common reasons to undergo browlift:

  • the lateral portion of the brow sags resulting in a sad or tired look
  • the central portion of your brows sags resulting in frown lines and an angry expression
  • lifting up the brow manually eliminates the excess skin in the upper eyelid.
What is the recovery period?

You should expect swelling and bruising for the first week. The swelling will improve gradually over the next 2 to 3 weeks. The stitches are usually removed after 7 days and you will be able to go back to work in about 2 weeks.
