Lip Implant

The most commonly used product is silicone implant which is a piece of silicone inserted in the lip through a tiny incision and can be removed anytime. This is different than silicone injection, which consist of injecting small silicone particles that melt up with tissues and cause fibrosis and problems on the long term. In this case, you can only treat the complications such as nodules or bumps by removing them but it is impossible to remove the silicone itself.

Lip implant procedure is done under local anesthesia and it takes 45 minutes approximatively.

What is the recovery period?

You should expect swelling and bruising for a day or two and it will improve gradually over the next couple of days. The stitches are absorbable and you can go back to work in 3 to 5 days. You will be given detailed instructions to follow before and after your surgery.

What about the scars?

The incision is placed along the lip mucosa; after you have completely healed, the scar will become invisible.

During your consultation, Dr. Abi Akl will answer all your concerns and explain to you every step of the procedure and what to expect on the short and long term.
